Sun Dog Training Facility and Nutro Foods have teamed up and are bringing you their first ever "O"Gility Competition! "O"Gility is a combination of obedience and agility. We will be offering five classes three in the Youth Division and two in the Adult Division, (18 yrs. and older). All events will be held at Sun Dog Training Facility in Romeo, MI. We will also be holding training classes for those of you who may not have equipment to practice on. The rules, format, schedule and costs are listed below.

*Youth Beginner Division will be judged and scored. Scores will be posted in no apparent order. All teams will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement that will show the handlers name and the dogs name as well as their score. There will be no first, second or third winners in this Division.
Jump heights will be set according to your dogs height and age.

Youth Beginner "O"Gility
Team will start at cone # 1. All exercises will be on leash unless told otherwise by the Ring Steward. .Ring Steward will ask the Handler if he/she is ready.
Heel
Upon the Ring Stewards command, the team will heel, negotiating the cone weave and finishing at cone # 2 and wait for further instructions.
Possible points - 10.
Sit/Stay
Upon the Ring Stewards command, team will advance to cone # 3 and stop.
Handler will sit his/her dog.
Ring Steward will ask the Handler if he/she is ready to demonstrate the stay.
Handler will tell his/her dog to stay and walk to the end of the leash.
*(Handler will not let go of the leash.)
When the Handler is at the end of the leash, the Ring Steward will start a 20 second count. At the end of 20 seconds the Ring Steward will tell the Handler to return to the dog and wait for further instruction.
*(For full points the dog must remain in a sit/stay until the Handler returns to the dog).
Possible points - 15.
Down
Upon the Ring Stewards command the team will heel from cone # 3 to the first flag and Handler will down his/her dog.
Ring Steward will start a 5 second count then tell the team to advance to the second flag. Upon reaching the second flag Handler will down his/her dog.
Ring Steward will give another 5 second count then tell the team to advance to the third flag. The Handler will down his/her dog.
Ring Steward will give another 5 second count and tell the team to advance to cone # 4 and wait for further instruction.
*(At each flag the dog should down quickly and remain on the down during the 5 second count).
Possible points - 15.
Tunnel
Upon the Ring Stewards command, both Handler and dog will enter the tunnel and advance to cone 5 and wait for further instruction.
Possible points - 10
High Jump
Upon the Ring Stewards command, team will advance to cone #6 with the dog jumping the hurdle along the way. At Cone #6 team will wait for further instructions.
Possible points - 10
Sit
The Ring Steward will instruct the team to advance to Cone #7.
Upon the Ring Stewards command, the team will advance to the first flag and stop, the dog must sit.
After a 5 second count by the Ring Steward the team will advance to the second flag and stop, the dog must sit.
After another 5 second count by the Ring Steward the team will advance to the third flag and stop, the dog must sit.
After 5 seconds the team will be instructed to advance toward the table and wait for further instruction.
*(At each flag the dog should sit quickly and remain in position during the 5 second count).
Possible points - 15.
Stand for inspection
Upon the Ring Stewards command the Handler will have his/her dog jump onto the table.
When the dog is standing on the table a helper will touch the dog along the back/belly and back legs, dog should remain calm.
When the inspection is complete the Ring Steward will lead the team to the free style area.
Possible points - 10.
Free Style
Once in the free style area the team will be given 30 seconds to perform any tricks such as, sit up, roll over, play dead, high-five, etc. At the end of 30 seconds the Ring Steward will announce that the exercise is over.
Possible points - 5.
Notes
The dog will be on leash for the entire exercise.
The Ring Steward will accompany the dog and Handler from the start to finish of the exercise.
A possible 90 total points may be awarded for the complete exercise.

Youth Intermediate "O"Gility
Team will start at cone # 1
All exercises will be on leash unless told otherwise by the Ring Steward.
Ring Steward will ask the Handler if he/she is ready.
Sit/Stay (handler in sight)
Handler will tell his/her dog to stay and walk to the entrance of the hotel, then return to their dog.
Possible points - 10
Heel
Upon the Ring Stewards command, team will advance along boardwalk to cone # 2 and wait for further instruction.
Possible points - 10
Tunnel
Ring Steward will instruction the team to advance to Cone #3. Handler will tell his/her dog to stay at cone # 3. Handler will walk to cone # 4 at the opposite end of the tunnel.
Handler will call his/her dog through the tunnel and wait for further instruction.
*(For full points the dog must return to the Handler through the tunnel on the first attempt. Points will be deducted for more than one attempt).
Possible points - 15
Figure Eight and Weave
Upon the Ring Stewards command team will advance to the figure eight, entering from any side that the Handler chooses. Upon completion of the figure eight, the team will continue through the six cone weave. Team will advance to cone #5 and wait for further instruction.
Total possible points - 15 (weave - 10 points and figure eight-5 points)
Low hurdle, Teeter totter, High hurdle
Upon Ring Stewards command team will advance from cone # 5.
The dog must jump the low hurdle then go up and over the teeter totter and finally jump the high hurdle, then advance to cone # 6 and wait for further instruction.
*(For full points dog must go over the obstacles on the first attempt,
Points will be deducted for more than one attempt of any of the three obstacles)
Total possible points - 20
(5 points, Low hurdle)
(10 points, teeter totter)
(5 points, high hurdle)
Sit/Down off leash
Handler will remove the leash from their dog and keep it with him.
Upon the Ring Stewards command team will advance from cone # 6.
At the first flag team will stop. Handler will down their dog. When ready, the team will advance to the second flag. The dog will sit when the Handler stops.
The team will then advance to the third flag, Handler will down their dog.
The team will advance to the fourth flag, the dog will sit when the handler stops.
The team will advance to the table for inspection. The dog is to jump up onto the table.
Handler will attach the leash to their dogs collar.
Possible points - 5 for each sit and down
Stand for inspection
While the dog is standing on the table a helper will run his/her hand along the back/belly and hind legs. The dog should remain calm and not try to move or bite the helper.
Upon the Ring Stewards command the team will advance to cone # 7.
Possible points - 5
Handler out of sight recall
Upon Ring Stewards command Handler will tell his/her dog to stay and walk over to Mae West and enter the building, going out of sight.
Upon a 10 second count by the Ring Steward the Handler will be told to recall his/her dog into the building.
*(For full points the dog should return in a straight line to the Handler).
When the dog has returned to the Handler the Ring Steward will lead the team to the free style area.
Possible points - 10
Free style
Once in the free style area the team will be given 30 seconds to perform any tricks the Handler has taught their dog. (i.e.) Sit up, roll over, play dead, high five, etc.
At the end of 30 seconds Ring Steward will announce exercise over.
Possible points - 5
Notes
The Ring Steward will accompany the team from start to finish of the exercise.
A possible 110 points maybe awarded for the complete exercise.

Youth Advanced "O"Gility
Off Leash
Heel and Sit
Handler will heel with his dog to Cone 1 and place him on a sit.
Possible points - 10 (Heel)
Possible points - 10 (Sit)
Down
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will command the dog to down.
Possible points - 10
Sit from a Down
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will command the dog to sit.
Possible points - 10
Fast Heel
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will advance at a fast heel to the red flag.
Possible points - 10
Sit
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will command the dog to sit.

Figure eight
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler and dog will demonstrate a figure eight around the orange cones ( Set 8ft apart from center)and continuing to the yellow flags. The handler will be informed that he may start the figure eight from either direction. Once the team is at the yellow flags the handler will be instructed to have the dog sit and to wait for further instructions.
Possible points - 5
Left turn, Stairs
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will advance to the red flag, turn left and advance up the stairs onto the boardwalk stopping at Cone 2. The handler will then place the dog on a sit.
Possible points - 10, left turn.
Possible points - 5, stairs.
Stand/Stay
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will place the dog in a stand position, leave him and go to the doorway of slick willie"s turn and face there dog. After 15 seconds the Ring Steward will tell the handler to go back to the dogs side.

Delivery of package
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will command the dog to down. A stranger will approach. The handler must follow his orders.
A stranger will exit the Hotel carrying a package and approach the handler. He
will give the handler the package and instruct them to leave the dog and
deliver the package to the Pony Express. The handler is then to return to the dog.
The stranger will return into the Hotel.
Possible points - 30
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will advance down the boardwalk to Cone 3 where he will place his dog on a sit. The handler will not be judged until he reaches Cone 3. The Ring Steward will instruct him to relax and enjoy his walk.
Sit/Stay
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will leave his dog on a sit and walk to the Mae West cabin. He will then be instructed to enter the cabin and pick up the stuffed animal. The handler will then return to his dog.
Possible points - 30
Heel, Jump, Inspection
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will leave the stuffed animal on the ground and heel with his dog over to the table. The handler will command the dog to jump up onto the table and stand for inspection.
Once the dog is on the table, a helper will exit the Hotel and make the inspection
by running a hand down the back and over the hind quarters. The helper will then
take a seat next to the high dog walk.

Possible points - 15, inspection
Low dog walk, High dog walk
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will take the dog over the low dog walk and then over the tall dog walk, stopping at the red flags.

Teeter Totter, Tunnel, A-frame, Space Station
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will take the dog over the Teeter Totter, through the tunnel, up and over the A Frame and then through the space station. Afterwards the handler will stop to wait for further instructions.

Jumps
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will advance with the dog to Cone 4.
The handler will then have the dog jump all four jumps, stopping afterwards at Cone 5 to wait further instructions.

Possible points - 5, Double bar jump
Possible points - 5, Broad jump.
Free Style
The Ring Steward will lead the handler to the Free Style area. The handler will be instructed that he will have 30 seconds to demonstrate all the tricks that he has taught the dog.

Ring Steward will compliment the handler and announce EXERCISE IS OVER!

Adult Beginner "O"Gility
On Leash
Heel and Sit
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will heel with the dog to the first flag and have the dog sit. The handler will wait for the Ring Steward to give the signal to advance to next flag. This will repeat for the remaining flags. The Handler will then stop at Cone 1 and wait for further instructions.
Possible points, Heel - 10
Possible points, Sit - 15
Heel and Down
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will heel with the dog to Cone 2. Along the way the handler will down the dog at each flag, waiting each time for the Ring Stewards signal to advance to the next flag.

Cone Weave
Upon the Ring Stewards command the team will advance onto the boardwalk and demonstrate their heel through the Cone Weave. The handler will place the dog on a sit when the team reaches Cone 3.

Sit/Stay and Recall with Food Distraction
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will leave the dog and advance to Cone 4, turning to face the dog. After 10 seconds the Ring Steward will give a signal and the handler will call the dog to him.

Sit/Stay with Car Distraction
Upon the Ring Stewards command the team will advance to Cone 5, turning to face the car. The Ring Steward will instruct the handler to leave the dog on a sit, go over to the car and open both back doors. The handler will then enter on the driver side and shut the door. After a five second count the Ring Steward will signal the driver to exit the car and return to the dog.

"O"Gility Course Loop
Upon the Ring Stewards signal the team will go through the "O"Gility Course Loop, starting with the tunnel and finishing with the Chute Tunnel.

Upon the Ring Stewards command the team will heel through the Cone Weave and red flags. They will then proceed to Cone 1, face Mae West Cabin and wait for further instructions.

Sit/Stay, Recall Through Window and Heel
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will leave the dog on a sit, enter Mae Wests Cabin and close the door. The handler will go to the window and call the dog through. The team will then exit the building and heel back to Cone 1.

Down/Stay with Handler Out Of Sight for 10 Seconds
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will place the dog on a down and enter the Outhouse, closing the door. The Ring Steward will make a 10 second count and then signal the handler to exit the Outhouse. The handler will return to the dog.
Possible points - 25
Down/Stay and Down in Motion with Car Distraction
Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will place the dog on a down facing the car. The handler will then go over to the car and open both back doors. The handler is to call the dog and down the dog between the red flags for full points. Once the dog is on a down, the handler will enter the car from the drivers side, close the door and start the engine. The Ring Steward will make a 5 second count and signal the handler to shut off the car. The handler will exit the vehicle and return to the dog.

Possible Points, Down in Motion with Car Distraction - 25
Heel
Upon the Ring Stewards command the team will advance to Cone 2, demonstrating a proper heel. At Cone 2 the team will face the Weave Poles.

Upon the Ring Stewards command the handler will have the dog go through the "O"Gility Loop, starting with the Weave Poles and ending with the Space Station. Afterwards they will relax and wait for further instructions.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR
SUN DOG TRAINING FACIILITYS
YOUTH AND ADULT "O"GILITY COMPETITIONS
All Youth Competitors must be between the ages of 10 - 17.
All Youth Competitors must be accompanied by their parent(s) or guardian.
Adults and Youths competing at Sun Dog Competitions are required to adhere to the rules set down for competition.
Good sportsmanship is expected at all times, both in and out of the ring. Poor sportsmanship will be penalized. This statement applies to parents as well.
Proper and humane training and handling methods will be emphasized and monitored at all times. Handlers may be firm, but must be thoughtful and never impatient or heavy-handed with their dogs.
Handlers must be alert to the needs of their dogs, other competitors and their dogs and spectators.
By entering a Sun Dog Event, the owner, handler and/or parents or guardians of the handler of any dog, agree to accept the decision of the judge, or judges, as final no exceptions.
All dogs must be a minimum of six months old to enter any Sun Dog Competition.
Owners must provide proof of current inoculations for each dog entered. The dog must be inoculated against Rabies, Canine Distemper and Canine Parvovirus in order to compete.
Female dogs in heat will not be allowed to enter the Sun Dog property.
Any dog which bites a judge, steward or spectator, or exhibits excessive aggressive behavior inside or outside of the ring will be excused from the competition with a refund of the entry fee.
The use of alcohol and illegal drugs at Sun Dog Events is prohibited. Violators will be asked to leave the premises and will be banned from any further Sun Dog Events.
Sun Dog reserves the right to impose penalties for conduct which may be deemed to not be in the best interest of Sun Dog Training Facility and the spirit of its competitions.
Dogs must be on leash AT ALL TIMES.
Owners must "pick up" after their dogs.
Children are to remain in the Competition area at all times.
