PUPPY FOUNDATION CLASS

The new four legged addition to your family is cute, cuddly, soft and full of love! As he or she gets bigger, the cute, cuddly and soft parts will start to go away and, if you have done everything right, will be replaced with devotion, obedience, a want and willingness to serve and give unconditional love. The transition from puppy to adolescence and then adulthood takes approximately two years. How well your dog does during this critical period of time, and how quickly he or she reaches adulthood, depends greatly on the foundation work that you and your family work on, during a period known the imprinting period. This extremely important period takes place approximately from week 12 to week 20. Exposure, whether good, bad or indifferent can, and will, in many cases stay with your dog for life. During this stage in your puppy's life, issues such as socialization to other dogs and humans, confidence building and your ability to steer your puppy safely through this time frame are of the utmost importance. If you can only afford to take one seriers of classes with your puppy, this is the one you should attend! There are three one-hour classes in this program. Each class is broken into three segments; 20 minutes of lecture and problem solving such as house training, biting, jumping, chewing, etc., 20 minutes of confidence building and 20 minutes of socialization.

Behavioral Modification

     This service is offered to dog owners who want to work on a specific problem such as aggression, fearfulness, housebreaking problems, barking, biting, just to name a few. These sessions are done privately with the instructor, either in your home or at our facility, depending on the situation.

Tracking

     Owners with an interest in scenting and tracking dogs will find this an interesting class, either for recreation or for practical applications. This area of training is extremely rewarding, allowing the owner to interact with their dog as a team and to trust their dog's natural ability. Dogs can actually teach their owners some things in this course! Your opinion and ideas of your dog will be dramatically changed upon completion of this class!

Street Dog Training

     Dogs are trained to protect on command only, placing total control in the hands of the owner. Owners can  train for street dog work and evaluate their training at any of our 5 annual events (Check out our Schedule of Events Page). Puppies and adults dogs can be trained in this class, however they will be evaluated for correct temperament/drive and must demonstrate solid obedience training.
